I once worked in a furniture store as a design consultant and I can’t tell you how many times I had people come in, ready to buy, but they didn’t know their measurements. They would leave in frustration without making the purchase they got so excited about because they didn’t know if it would fit in their home.
When you are furniture shopping, or even when you’re not. Take some time first to measure each room and space where you need certain pieces. See how much room you have in between the current piece and walking space. Measure the height of walls if you’re looking for tall pieces.
Keep all your measurements in the notes section of your phone or on a piece of paper in your wallet.
Also, take pictures of your current spaces so you can be sure of the color schemes. I once had a lady who was sure her rug was brown, and she bought a couch, but it turned out the rug was actually gray. It didn’t match the accent pillows on the couch so she had to get new ones made.
So remember, write down measurements, take pictures, then you’ll be ready to shop till you drop!
