Journey to Vegan-ish Land

During the past few months, I’ve had some health challenges.  Some have been ongoing for a year or so now, recurring bronchitis, sinus infections, etc, etc.  Well in December, it all hit at once, along with a viral infection and a trip to the ER.

Needless to say, I kept wondering why I am prone to sickness as I had a pretty healthy diet…..or so I thought.

I know you’ve heard a lot about all of the pesticides, chemicals, sugars, and cancer-causing additives they put in our food, but let me tell you, it’s A LOT WORSE than you think.

I want you to take a few minutes and write down what you ate today.  Write down how much of that was processed in a factory before it was consumed by you.  I’m guessing your diet is more than 75% processed foods.  Our bodies were not meant to eat that way, we were meant to eat things straight from nature.

Since I’m already gluten free, I was also eating lots of sugar, and dairy because I felt deprived.  Now I know that eating healthy is much more of a reward, mentally, spiritually (taking care of your temple), and physically of course!

If you’re like me, you’ve seen tons of facebook pages and websites about becoming this holistic supervegan gardener who never eats anything from a processed plant, but we all know that is semi-unrealistic.

So thanks to my dear friend Natalie, I now am on the track to have more of a vegan component to my diet.  I’m still researching, and looking up what the bible says on the issue of it, how animals are treated, looking into grass fed & sustainable farming, and whether or not I will fully commit to a vegan diet.  But in the meantime, I figure that it can’t hurt anything to try it out…..at least 75% anyway.

She introduced me to a girl named Fully Raw Kristina, now this chick eats NOTHING but RAW fruits and veggies.  She makes it look easy too, which its not, but once it becomes a lifestyle change it can get easier.  It is getting easier for me 🙂

There are also tons of people you can follow on Instagram and Facebook to help you begin to take control of your health, one recipe at a time.  I like Rawvana, Fitmencook, Brussels Vegan to name a few.

So are you ready?! Are you sick of headaches, nausea, acid reflux pills, feeling tired and needing caffeine, alcohol, chronic diseases, or other stimulants to get through your day.  Then LETS GO!

I’ll be tagging all my recipes, etc. with VEGANISH if you’re trying to look for them.  They’ll also be under Eating Healthy.  I’m also about to start the annual Daniel Fast and I’m so excited to have more knowledge to create new recipes!

My next post is a recipe for a healthy breakfast or anytime stir fry!
