As a modern day woman, I enjoy fashion and keeping up with the latest trends. I haven’t really shopped in a while though, so I live vicariously through Pinterest as I’m sure a lot of you do as well, haha.
I do want to write about a few verses though, so we don’t become obsessed with fashion and put it above our inner beauty…that is why I love the term, “Marvelous yet Modest”. The outfits below, and all the ones I will feature will stay true to that theme. It is not necessary to show lots of cleavage or skin to be stylish. This definitely does NOT glorify God either. My dear sister, when you show off your assets, the beauty of your body that was only meant for your husband, you are doing more damage than you may realize. There is only one set of eyes that is meant to see your frame, and showing ourselves to attract attention from men is only damaging ourselves in the end. You may want to attract single males and there’s nothing wrong with flattering clothing, but just remember that whatever skin you show in public is also seen by married men, your Pastor, and your fellow brothers in Christ. Ouch, I know it hurts, but just make a decision to let your inner beauty shine, while guarding your body for your future mate.
This verse instructs us clearly not to let our beauty come merely from the outer trappings, but that it is much more important to have a gentle and quiet spirit. I pray that all Christian women, myself included, work harder to exemplify Jesus than we do on our wardrobe.
That being said, there is also a scripture in PROVERBS 31:22 that speaks about the Proverbs 31 woman, who is “clothed in fine linen and purple”. In my humble opinion, I believe God is okay with us taking care of our appearance and wanting to have a few nice things…
I found the image below on Pinterest, and I am extremely fond of this outfit. It screams, classic nautical look with a twist of fun, and I’m loving the leopard flats.
Vests are the trend of the season, and you can find inexpensive vintage ones at thrift stores everywhere. No need to break the bank being fashionable.
I also love this classic look below that is making a comeback. Forget chunky platform heels, skinny stilettos are where it’s at! This look reminds me of Lucille Ball as she was notorious for an oversized white shirt, slim fit pants, and heels. I wonder if the big, full 1950’s dresses will ever be popular again in mainstream day-to-day wear? Leave your comments below, I would love to hear them!
