We Take Full Responsibility…

Responsibility is a four-letter word in today’s culture.  No one wants to be held liable for someone else’s mistakes.  What about a mistake you were born into…perhaps sinful nature?

Please read Matthew 27:24-25.  In these few verses, Pilate washes his hands from the matter of condemning Jesus.  The last line is paraphrased like this, “We will take responsibility for his death, we and our children!”  Man they spoke a mouthful there, didn’t they? And generation after generation we certainly have, & we’ve paid the price.  Even though we weren’t there at that moment, each time we sin, we are taking on that responsibility because of our own sin.  We were born with a sinful nature, and that is why Christ had to be crucified.  But, this is not our fault is it?  Can we ever fix the horrible destiny that has been spoken over us?

YES!!  There is hope & that is the gift of salvation. It has already been paid for, but there is another form of hope. That is CHOICE.  We have the choice every…single….day to please God, & that is through our obedience.  When we choose to honor his commandments & cease to abuse alcohol or drugs, to gossip, or lie, when we chose to feed a homeless person or give them clothes, God is pleased & the curse of sin is lessened a little more each time.

We can never be perfect and that’s not what his gift is all about, but it is our duty to honor that gift by being the BEST example of Christ that we can . To love others more than ourselves, to see someone in need & step in, to stand in the gap not only through prayer but through action.

So lets declare our freedom today & go out and do good & serve The Lord. Here are a few ways to get started…

1. Accept the Gift if you haven’t already by making The Lord your savior
2. Read his word & pray daily, developing an intimate relationship with him
3. Help someone! I’m sure you know a single mother who could use a babysitter or a bag of groceries, an elderly person who could use a visit, a friend who needs encouraging, a sick person who could use a meal for their family, a organization that needs volunteers, a child that doesn’t have good parents & needs some loving words spoken to them, take your pick, just get moving for God!!

Dear friends, let us not love in words or speech, but in actions & in truth! 1 John 3:18
